The best holidays I have had

My holidays are always improvised, one of the best I have had was the first time I went to Pichilemu with my parents. One summer night, my dad was looking at Booking.com and he saw a beautiful cabin in Pichilemu on top of a small hill with an incredible view of the sea. He booked and the following week we went to Pichilemu!

Pichilemu is a coast city, located in the O’Higgins region, about three hours from Santiago. It’s a peaceful city, with beautiful beaches. It’s very known for being “the capital of surf” because there you can find the best waves. Also, Pichilemu in mapudungun means “small forest”.

We went on February, 2018 expecting to be there for two weeks. We invited my uncle, who went for one week to be with us, and then we invited the family of one of my best friends for another week. We had an amazing time so we decided to stay for another week!! We loved everything there, the weather was perfect for us, because it wasn’t too hot to be summer and the beaches are so peaceful to walk or read a book. Also, we fell in love with a restaurant called “Cúrcuma”, it serves delicious vegetarian/vegan food.

Since that summer we have come back to Pichilemu three times, and it’s now our favorite destination for holidays. During quarantine we were always saying that we were dying to go to Pichilemu and eat a plate from Cúrcuma. I hope we can go this summer!

  1. Pichilemu is so nice. I have relatives there, so I used to go there a lot when I was a child. The only problem is that the seawater is sooo cold!

  4. Pichilemu always makes me think of a really bad song from a really bad band called "Pichilemu surfin". It intended to make fun of the "zorrones" that goes to that beach XD

Future Studies

It’s difficult for me to write about a postgraduate course to consider taking because I don’t see myself studying in the future, I think I would like to take some courses in a different area, but I don’t see me again at the university.  If you make me choose right now I believe that I would like to take the Master in Documentary that ICEI gives. I would like that because last year we had documentary classes and I was developing a documentary project that was interrupted by the social outbreak. I liked the area of documentary, so by taking that Master I would improve my knowledge and maybe finish the project I was creating.  I prefer the course that ICEI gives because I see me taking it in Chile, I can’t afford right now a course in another country. For the same reason, I would prefer a part-time course, or that it can give me time to work so I can afford it.  In consequence of the pandemic, a lot of universities in the world are doing online courses, so I imagine that may...

A country I would like to visit

One day I was watching City Tour On Tour with my mom. They were showing the architecture of Croatia, and we fell in love with the landscape of that country. That’s the country I would like to visit and talk about in this post! Croatia is a small country, it’s beside the Adriatic ocean and has thousands of islands to explore. It’s a country with a lot of history, and it’s really well conserved for the years that have passed. You can see the trace of the centuries through his walls and palaces. After the Balkan War, the government put an effort to incentivize tourism in the country, because Croatia was seen as an insecure country for tourism. Nowadays, Croatia is one of the countries with most visitors in the Mediterranean. One of his main attractions, besides the historical and cultural part, is that some places of Croatia were the locations of the series Game of Thrones.  I would like to visit Dubrovnik, walk in those streets, and see the Adriatic Ocean. So I can learn more deeply ...

Vermicompost!

On today’s blog I’m going to talk about vermicomposting. It’s been a while since I started learning about how to have a more sustainable lifestyle. I changed many things in my daily life, and one of them was to have a vermicompost in my house.  The first thing I wanted was to reduce the amount of garbage in my house. Some people calculate that 50% of our garbage is food waste, so having a compost or vermicompost reduces a lot. At first I thought about having a compost bin in my yard, but my mom (like most of the people) believed that compost would include a lot of non-friendly animals to our house, like rats or flies. And the other thing was she believed that it would have a bad smell. I knew that those are myths, cause with a good manage that can't happen. In the search of trying to convince my mother, I found about vermicomposting. The amazing thing about vermicomposting is that you can have it even at an apartment!  Vermicomposting is basically a bin with “floors” and worms...
